The situation we usually walk into
Horticulture runs on margins that are easy to neglect: the shelterbelt base, the headland, the drain edge, the steep bit at the back of the block. They harbour pests, they carry weed seed into the rows, and on a compliance audit they are exactly what gets looked at. The complication is that the usual answer, spraying, is the one thing you do not want happening upwind of a crop.
What we do about it
Mechanical clearing and mowing, which means no chemical and therefore no drift risk to the crop, no withholding period, and nothing to declare. We handle shelterbelt undergrowth, headlands, drain and margin vegetation, and the steep bits at the back of the block that the tractor cannot take. Bay of Plenty kiwifruit and avocado country is our home patch.

- PrivetA shelterbelt escapee that becomes a gully full of woody stems, and a genuine health complaint for the neighbours.
