This is where we are based, so it is where we do the most work and where our response times are shortest. The Western Bay growth corridor means a steady volume of civil and subdivision work around Tauriko, Papamoa and Te Puke, alongside the orchard and lifestyle block work that has always been here. The gully systems around the harbour are the jobs that come up most often, and they are the clearest example of why remote-controlled machines exist: they are too steep and too close to things that matter to put a person or a tractor on.

The country here

Short steep gullies running down to the harbour and the coast, flat to rolling horticultural country behind them, and a lot of recently disturbed ground where the Western Bay keeps expanding. The gullies are the characteristic problem: they are steep, they are close to houses and orchards, and they have generally been left alone for years because there was no safe way to get into them.

• Woolly nightshade, heavy through gully systems and bush margins
• Pampas, along the coastal strip, roadsides and shelterbelt edges
• Blackberry, through creek margins and back fence lines

Councils and compliance

Bay of Plenty Regional Council (Toi Moana)

Toi Moana runs the regional pest management plan that covers woolly nightshade, wilding conifers and the rest of the declared species here, and district councils handle reserves and roadside vegetation. We hold SHE Pre-Qual, Tōtika and IMPAC, which is what gets a contractor onto council and civil work in this region.
