The situation we usually walk into

Restoration projects usually start with a site that is under weed, old man's beard through the margin, woolly nightshade in the gully, gorse across the face, and a group of people with limited time and a planting budget. Hand clearing burns the volunteer effort before a single plant goes in, and chemical control is often the last thing wanted on a site next to a waterway.

What we do about it

Mechanical clearing that takes the weed mass off the site in a day rather than a season, with no chemicals and no burning, and the material left as mulch on the ground. We work around native regeneration and anything else worth keeping, tell us what matters before we start and we plan the job around it. Riparian margins and steep gully sides are within reach at up to 55 degrees.

Typical jobs

  • Clearing pest plants ahead of a planting programme
  • Riparian margin clearing before fencing and planting
  • Old man's beard and woolly nightshade removal from bush margins
  • Reopening access on reserve and covenant land
  • Follow-up clearing on previously planted restoration sites
