What it involves
Mowing and mulching the banks, batters and berms along a road corridor to maintain sight lines, drainage and asset access.
Why it has not been done
Two risks stack up on a roadside bank: the slope and the traffic. Putting an operator on a steep batter beside a live carriageway is difficult to justify in a safety plan, which is why these faces are so often deferred until sight lines are genuinely compromised.
How we do it
Remote-controlled machines mean the operator works from a safe position off the batter and away from the traffic envelope. Slopes to 55 degrees cover the great majority of road batters. We hold SHE Pre-Qual, Tōtika and IMPAC, which is generally what a council or civil principal requires before we are on site.
