Cost guide
What slope mowing costs, and why a cycle is cheaper than a rescue
The cheapest slope mowing is the kind that happens regularly. Rescue jobs cost more.

The honest answer
Slope mowing is priced on area, gradient and how far the growth has got away. The pattern worth knowing is that a bank on a regular cycle costs meaningfully less over time than the same bank left until it is rank and then rescued, because rank growth is slower to cut and sometimes crosses over into needing mulching instead. GRazer estimate most jobs from Google Maps, photos and the property address, which means you can get an initial number without anyone driving out. For larger, more complex or high-value projects they may recommend a site visit to confirm scope before work starts.
What actually drives the number
How far it has got away
Regular maintenance growth is quick. Two seasons of rank kikuyu is slow, and if woody regrowth has come through it may need mulching rather than mowing, which is a different service.
Gradient
Workable to 55 degrees. Steeper means more careful machine positioning and a slower rate of work.
Area and shape
Open ground goes faster, typically 2 to 3 acres a day where accessible. A narrow batter with obstacles does not.
Obstacles and services
Trees, posts, culverts, markers and services on a batter all slow the pass and need identifying beforehand.
One-off or scheduled
A scheduled cycle is more efficient per visit than an ad hoc rescue, and it keeps the site in mowing territory rather than letting it slip into mulching territory.
How to keep the cost down
- Get onto a regular cycle rather than calling when it is out of hand
- Combine several banks or areas into one visit
- Mark or list any obstacles and services before the first visit
- Be flexible on timing so it fits around dry conditions
- Do the flat yourself if you have a tractor, and book us for the faces
What is included that is easy to miss
- Even finish with no lines, clumping or scalping
- Adjustable cutting height and anti-scalping across uneven ground
- Operator off the slope throughout
- No chemicals
