Will slope mowing damage my land?

This is a reasonable thing to ask, particularly on soft ground, wet clay or an erosion-prone face. The machines are low ground pressure and track-driven, which spreads weight rather than concentrating it the way a wheeled machine does.

Conditions on the day matter more than the machine. Saturated ground marks more easily than dry ground, which is a large part of why one to two dry days are preferred before work starts. If conditions are genuinely unsuitable, rescheduling is better than pushing on and leaving a mess.

On steep faces the mulch layer left behind actually helps. Freshly cleared bare soil on a slope is exposed to rain impact and erosion, and a layer of mulch over it does the opposite: it protects the surface while regrowth establishes.

The comparison worth making is against the alternatives. An excavator clearing the same vegetation breaks and moves the soil substantially; a hand crew leaves cut material that then has to be dealt with. Mulching is the lowest-disturbance option of the three.
