Remote-Controlled Mulchers for Steep and Sensitive Terrain

Connie is the compact machine in the fleet. In GRazer's own words, she handles steep banks and sensitive terrain, and is perfect for reserves, waterways and narrow access areas.

Compact matters more than it sounds. A large share of the sites that need this work are not large open faces, they are the gully behind a house, the strip along a fence line, the bank between a track and a stream, the reserve margin between two properties. Getting a machine in at all is the first problem, and a machine that fits through 1.4 metres solves it.

Sensitive ground is the second reason this machine exists. On reserve land, riparian margins and restoration sites, the goal is usually to remove the weed without churning up the ground or damaging what is worth keeping. Lower weight and a smaller footprint make that far more achievable than bringing in something heavy.

Being remote-controlled is what makes the steep work possible. The operator stands on stable ground with a clear line of sight and works the machine on the face, so there is no cab to roll and nobody on the slope. On a bank above a waterway or beside a live road, that is the entire safety case.

Connie also carries the flail attachment, so the clean even mowing finish on soft growth (rank pasture, kikuyu, long grass) is her job rather than the FAE's. Between the two heads she covers both the woody clearing and the tidy finish.
